IR Remote to USB HID

Accept IR commands from a IR remote and generate HID keyboard reports to allow for both keystrokes and multimedia commands to allow control of a XBMC using a standard remote.

You could receive the remote infrared signals with an infrared receiver, decode them on an microcontroller and use an disassembled USB Keyboard pc board to activate the desired keys.

I assume USB (?). @Snarf: just a proposal or are you working on this project? There are a lot of very cheap IR-USB remotes available on Ebay, this project should have some special features to make it worth developing/building.
