The ideal Assistant Editor has a genuine curiosity about electronics, a sharp eye for English grammar/punctuation, a passion for digital publishing, and a drive to help engineers share their projects with the world.
 
Perhaps you are an ambitious online editor/writer fascinated by AI and the IoT. Or maybe you are an outgoing engineer or coder itching to jump into the world of digital publishing. Or possibly you are an electronics maker/DIYer who wants to be immersed in electronics content 24/7. As a member of Elektor’s Content and Lab Team, the Assistant Editor will be primarily responsible for editing Elektor Mag articles, conducting research, inspiring community members, posting on social media, and copyediting/writing for Elektor’s e-publications and websites. Each day, you’ll be editing in-depth articles, assisting pro engineers, posting fresh digital content, and supporting our community members!

Assistant Editor for Elektor Mag
The Assistant Editor will play a key role in producing Elektor Mag!

Assistant Editor Job Responsibilities

  • Copyediting/writing and prepping images for Elektor Mag, its websites, and e-newsletter.
  • Researching and producing engaging online content (e.g., news, Q&As, social posts, and videos).
  • Preparing and managing content within Elektor’s content management system (CMS).
  • Supporting senior staffers with developing new Elektor products (e.g., books and kits).
  • Coordinating author contracts and tracking content submissions.
  • Reporting on performance, KPI’s and Analytics.
  • Responding to queries from authors, reviewers, and community members.

Qualifications

  • You are curious about electronics, computers, coding, and/or next-gen electronic technology.
  • You have strong English language writing, editing, and speaking skills.
  • You have either: (a) experience as an editor/writer, with a strong interest in electronics, or (b) experience as an engineer, coder, or maker, with a strong interest in digital publishing. We will also consider a recently graduated student with the requisite skills and a passion for electronics.
  • You are an independent multitasker capable of meeting tight editorial deadlines.   
  • Skills: English grammar, MS Office, Photoshop (or similar), social media, and Google Analytics. Video production skills a plus. Electronics/coding skills a plus.

Elektor offers a competitive compensation package with benefits, as well as a flexible work and results-based environment. The company maintains offices in Aachen, Germany, and Susteren, Netherlands, but most staffers currently work remotely due to COVID-19. Applicants interested in either remote or on-site work are welcome to apply. Most staffers work during Central European Time hours.
