Time machine

I was thinking of building a machine to virtually travel through time. The idea is a sort of Google Street View but then of history.
Update April 27, 2018
The internet is full with information about the past, from prehistoric to recent, yet I do not know of a system or tool capable of compiling all this information into a virtual reality like Google Street View that lets the user stroll around through the past. Type in a date & place and get a feel of how things looked at the time, not just by watching some photographs, but by really walking around.Things in a similar spirit have been done for a few buildings and only in specific periods of time, but I want something that ideally would cover the complete history of the earth. Of course, I know this is a bit ambitious, but hey, big data, artificial intelligence, and high-performance computing should be able to get such a project on the road.
I posted this idea here in 2012 and never got any response. Today, with Virtual Reality (VI) helmets, glasses & goggles and gaming technology it must be possible to come up with a nice system allowing the user to relive history?
Maybe somebody build such a system already?
Please let me know your thoughts. Do we have to build it ourselves?

Past Nothing but universe starting with big-bang
Early Earth Rocks and soil
Early Life Fossils
Early Human Cave-painting tools and bones
Early Civilization Buildings statues tools and write ups
Civilization Books and paintings
Modern Early Civilization B/W movies photos books tape records
Modern Civilization added TV and digital recording
The world around us now 3D recordings spyglasses and VR-headsets
Now is the time to start your Time machine.
This would mean everybody wearing spyglasses all day
However this would mean
All spyglasses data data would have to be gathered and stored
Computers would be enormous but these will arrive
Algorithms have to be developed to decide what to keep or delete and what can be combined
Questions
Who wants to input “old data
Who will decide on Algorithms what to be seen or not?
Who will take care of privacy?
Who wants to pay for such a phenomena (apart from you)?
Most information at this moment would probably be available from cameras hanging around in this world not forgetting FB and YouTube and of coarse with the USA army but that is only about war (who should be interested?)
Sooner people will live and work in a VR-world
Most of all as a world-project we could send all data in the universe so aliens can see for themselves what this world was all about.

use holographics i.e. chinese have already developed it and ive seen it. It blew me away. Far beter than vr
Larger audiance
more $
just imagine realtime holograhic of the local football at a venue near you or travel back in time.
